The words “I’m bored” probably come out of your mouth every day.
Believe it or not, there are plenty of things to do on and off Radford University’s campus! There are over 220 clubs and organizations here at RU, which leaves plenty of options for you to choose from.
You have Greek Life, Young Life, Archery, Sports and many more. Don’t let the small town atmosphere lead you to believe there’s nothing to do. As I’m sure everyone has noticed, this hot weather is slowly fading away, so make the best of it and float down the river. Be sure to take safety precautions!
If you enjoy the outdoors, go hiking. Radford is conveniently located in the mountains so get a group of friends and make a hiking trip! If you’re too lazy or not fit enough to hike, don’t be afraid to bike the trail and show it who’s boss. Make sure to take safety precautions when you do this: take plenty of food and water and make sure you don’t go too deep into the mountains, otherwise you could get lost. It’s embarrassing to have to call in a rescue crew.
Another way to soak up the remaining rays is to make your way to one of the quads. There’s always something to do or someone to meet who’s in the same position as you and needs a friend. The friendships you make in college are long lasting and special; this is a place to make memories.
Christiansburg is only five to ten minutes away, so it’s always a good option if you’re looking for activities that a small town can’t provide. You can go to the NRV Mall, get Chipotle, go see a movie at the Christiansburg theater or drive ten minutes down the road to see a Tech game!
Are you hungry? Good! Sharkey’s is calling your name. Or maybe you’re in the mood for BT’s? Both of these restaurants have incredible food and provide great service.
After considering all these vast possibilities and opportunities, you won’t believe RU’s boring for a minute. So come on! Get involved. Have fun. Make friends. Enjoy RU for what it’s worth!
