Bugs Might Be Our Future Daily Meal

What do you think of bugs? Scared of them? You like them? There’s probably one thing that we all can possibly agree on. That we need bugs for our ecosystem in order to survive, even mosquitoes. However, it is possible that we may need bugs for more than just being a part of the ecosystem, it is possible that one day when you go to the store to get your groceries, you’ll be picking up something that is made out of bugs.

Now it has been known that bugs provide a lot of protein, iron, and vitamins, and when we eat our favorite foods like pizza, chocolate, and spaghetti, they contain a high amount of bug parts, which are legally allowed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

However, the edible bug market is on the rise as more and more people are willing to eat bugs in the United States. Edible bugs were already relatively popular in Asian and European countries, especially chocolate covered bugs (Hey, maybe that’s why chocolate has some bug parts in it already).

Along with bugs having many health benefits, there is one other benefit that insects have that no other life form can produce: the quick life cycle. Insects are able to reproduce quicker than any other life form than we eat and well, of course they die quicker than any other life form, it is not like when we kill cows, pigs, and chickens, to quickly name a few.

To end this here, nobody is going to make a law saying that we can only eat insects or bugs or night terrors that have eight legs, but it can be a very useful idea for humans especially if we are facing an issue of people starving because of the lack of food. Insects will be a good idea for us to feed the masses. Let’s just hope the insects don’t die out either. Otherwise we might as well become zombies.
